Sodium chloride is a white odorless crystalline powder. Melting point of 801 ºC, boiling point of 1465 ºC, slightly soluble in ethanol, propanol, and butan. After mutual solubility with butan, it becomes plasma and is easily soluble in water. The solubility in water is 35.9 g/100g water (room temperature). NaCl can form colloids when dispersed in alcohol, and its solubility in water decreases due to the presence of hydrogen chloride, making it almost insoluble in concentrated hydrochlori aci.
