Usually, vegetable oil plasticizers have been applied to PVC resins, with a dosage of 15%. The dosage of modified vegetable oil plasticizers can be higher than 15%, 20%, 40%, and 50%. The typical upper limit of plasticizer dosage is around 70%. A high concentration of epoxy plasticizer will provide high thermal stability.
ESO is a non-toxic plastic plasticizer approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (PDA) for use in food packaging materials. ESO is used as a plasticizer in the production and manufacturing of PVC non-toxic products, PVC transparent products, transparent bottles, transparent boxes, food, drug packaging materials, PVC medical "blood transfusion bags", PVC outdoor plastic products, waterproof rolls, plastic doors and windows, wallpaper plastic films, etc.
ESO plasticizer derivatives such as ESO pentaerythritoester, ESO propylen glycol ester, ESO ethylene glycol ester, etc. Epoxy soybean oil acrylate compounds and certain amine derivatives of epoxy soybean oil acrylate compounds can be used to produce certain polyurethane derivatives, which can themselves serve as useful coatings, adhesives, molding components, etc., or can form the same useful components as other materials. Further epoxidation and acetylation of vegetable oil fatty acids yield epoxy esters with an epoxy value equal to or less than 8. Used as a plasticizer for PVC, it can improve the properties of PVC polymers. This renewable compound can reduce costs. PVC is the most famous and widely used ethylene plastic, and most PVC is plasticized with plasticizers. A large amount of PVC is commonly referred to as hard PVC, and high resistance to chemical substances is necessary for pipelines and similar applications. PVC plasticizers are widely used in various forms, including films, cable sheaths, molding, fixing products, conveyor belts, toys, and hoses. Environmentally oxidized vegetable oil has been widely used in industry, such as ESO endowing products with good mechanical, weather resistance, and electrical properties. In addition to being widely used in plastic doors and windows, pipes, interior decoration materials, wires and cables, and films, it can also be used to produce high demand photographic films, and as a specialized plasticizer for producing sealing gaskets on refrigerator doors.
ESO is used as an auxiliary plasticizer with excellent thermal processing and flexibility. After testing PVC polymers at typical extrusion processing temperatures, ESO has been found to be suitable for typical PVC stabilizer formulations, helping to improve the level by 2% to 3% in existing technology. To further improve high-temperature stability, composite heat stabilizers such as zinc, calcium stearate metal soaps, PVC, and ESO can be added.
ESO can be used to prepare vinyliden chlorid polymers, which have excellent thermal stability.

Epoxy compounds include ESO, EPSO, epoxy flaxseed oil, etc. Among them, epoxy oil esters are most commonly used as PVC auxiliary stabilizers, non-toxic, and to a certain extent, as auxiliary plasticizers and heat stabilizers, used in the production of semi hard and hard PVC products.
The degradation of PVC begins with the dehydrochlorination reaction, which often starts with allyl chloride. The presence of hydrogen chloride accelerates the degradation rate of PVC, quickly forming a polyene chain structure.
When PVC is heated, its color changes from colorless and transparent to brown, exhibiting the structural characteristics of long conjugated polyene chains. The oxidation of the polyene chain region also produces carbonyl and hydroge peroxid groups, which cause a series of physical changes in PVC and deepen its color. The epoxy group of ESO itself is an absorbent of hydrogen chloride, which can react with allyl chloride to partially remove the allyl group, thereby delaying the degradation of PVC. Therefore, ESO is also an effective heat stabilizer for PVC. As an epoxy soybean oil containing ternary epoxy, it can have a synergistic effect with organic tin, exerting long-term thermal and photo stability, and reducing the amount of expensive organic metal salt stabilizers [24].
Cosmetic plasticizers
The effective plasticizer and solvent in the composition of cosmetic ingredients are used as film-forming substances. The plasticizer is epoxy oil, which is used to form nail polish ingredients, cosmetics or hair care products.
