Polyvinylchloride, abbreviated as PVC, is an initiator of vinylchloride monomer (VCM) in peroxides, azo compounds, and other compounds; Or polymers formed by free radical polymerization reaction mechanism under the action of light and heat.
Polyvinylchloride is a non-toxic and odorless white powder. It has high chemical stability and good plasticity. Except for a few organic solvents, it can withstand any concentration of hydrochloricacid, less than 90% sulfuric acid, 50-60% nitricacid, and less than 20% causticsoda at room temperature, and is also quite stable against salts; PVC has poor thermal stability and light resistance, and can begin to decompose and release hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas above 140 ºC, causing PVC to change color. Excellent electrical insulation, generally does not burn, can burn on flames and release HCl, but self extinguishes upon leaving the flame, making it a "self extinguishing" and "flame retardant" substance. Mainly used for producing transparent sheets, pipe fittings, gold cards, blood transfusion equipment, soft and hard tubes, boards, doors and windows, profiles, films, electrical insulation materials, cable sheaths, blood transfusion materials, etc. [1]

1. Polyvinylchloride profiles
Profile and profiled materials are the largest areas of PVC consumption in China, accounting for about 25% of the total PVC consumption. They are mainly used for making doors, windows, and energy-saving materials, and their application volume is still growing significantly nationwide. In developed countries, the market share of plastic doors and windows also ranks first, with Germany at 50%, France at 56%, and the United States at 45%.
2. Polyvinylchloride pipes
Among numerous PVC products, PVC pipes are the second largest consumer area, accounting for about 20% of its consumption. In China, polyvinylchloride pipes were developed earlier than PE pipes and PP pipes, with a wide variety of varieties, excellent performance, and a wide range of applications, occupying an important position in the market.
3. Polyvinylchloride film
The consumption of PVC in the field of PVC film ranks third, accounting for about 10%. After mixing and plasticizing PVC with additives, a transparent or colored film of specified thickness is produced using a three roll or four roll rolling mill. The film is processed using this method to become a rolled film. It is also possible to process packaging bags, raincoats, tablecloths, curtains, inflatable toys, etc. through cutting and heat sealing. Wide transparent film can be used for greenhouses, plastic greenhouses, and plastic films. The heat shrinkage characteristics of biaxially stretched films can be used for shrink packaging.
4. PVC hard materials and boards
Stabilizers, lubricants, and fillers are added to PVC, and after mixing, various diameters of hard pipes, irregular pipes, and corrugated pipes can be extruded using an extruder for use as sewer pipes, drinking water pipes, wire sleeves, or stair handrails. Overlapping and hot pressing the rolled thin sheets can produce hard boards of various thicknesses. The board can be cut into the desired shape, and then welded into various chemically resistant storage tanks, air ducts, and containers using PVC welding rods and hot air.
5. PVC general soft products
The extruder can be used to extrude hoses, cables, wires, etc; By using injection molding machines in conjunction with various molds, plastic sandals, shoe soles, slippers, toys, automotive parts, and more can be made.
6. Polyvinylchloride packaging materials
Polyvinylchloride products are mainly used for packaging various containers, films, and hard sheets. PVC containers are mainly used to produce bottles for mineral water, beverages, cosmetics, and also for packaging refined oils. PVC film can be used for co extrusion with other polymers to produce low-cost laminated products, as well as transparent products with good barrier properties. Polyvinylchloride film can also be used for stretch or heat shrink packaging, used for packaging mattresses, fabrics, toys, and industrial goods.
7. Polyvinylchloride wall panels and flooring
Polyvinylchloride wall panels are mainly used to replace aluminum wall panels. Except for a portion of polyvinylchloride resin, the other components in polyvinylchloride floor tiles are recycled materials, adhesives, fillers, and other components, mainly used in hard floors of airport terminals and other places.

Luggage bags are traditional products made from polyvinylchloride processing. Polyvinylchloride is used to make various imitation leather for luggage bags, sports products such as basketball, football, and rugby. It can also be used to make belts for uniforms and specialized protective equipment. PVC fabrics used in clothing are generally absorbent fabrics (without coating), such as raincoats, baby pants, imitation leather jackets, and various rain boots. Polyvinylchloride is used in many sports and entertainment products, such as toys, records, and sports equipment. Polyvinylchloride toys and sports equipment have seen significant growth due to their low production costs and ease of molding, giving them an advantage.
9. PVC coated products
Artificial leather with a substrate is made by applying PVC paste onto cloth or paper, and then plasticizing it at a temperature above 100 ºC. PVC can also be rolled into a thin film with additives first, and then pressed onto the substrate. Untamed synthetic leather is directly rolled into soft thin sheets of a certain thickness by a calendering machine, and then pressed with patterns. Artificial leather can be used to make leather cases, bags, book covers, sofas, and car seat cushions, as well as floor leather, which is used as a flooring material for buildings.
10. PVC foam products
When soft PVC is mixed, a proper amount of foaming agent is added to make a sheet, which is foamed into foam plastic, and can be used as foam slippers, sandals, insoles, and shock proof and cushioning packaging materials. It can also be used as a low foaming hard PVC board and profile based on an extruder, which can replace wood and is a new type of building material.
11. PVC transparent sheet
PVC is made by adding impact modifiers and organotin stabilizers, which are mixed, plasticized, and rolled into transparent sheets. Thermoforming can be used to create thin-walled transparent containers or vacuum formed packaging, making it an excellent packaging and decorative material.
