1,2-propanediol is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H8O2. It is a colorless, viscous liquid under normal conditions, almost odorless, and slightly sweet when smelled. 1,2-propanediol can be prepared by hydration of epic, hydrolysis of 1,2-dich and oxidation of prop. Prop glycol can be used in cosmetics, toothpaste, and soap as a wetting agent in combination with glycerol or sorbitol.
